LIGHT PLANE CRASHES NEAR SNOHOMISH

(SNOHOMISH, WA) -- A light plane, reported to be a 1946 Republic RC3, a single-engine aircraft crashed in a shallow water slough at Snohomish Saturday morning, according to the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.
The accident happened about 10:100 a.m. in a wooded area near the 9700 block of 111th Street SE just south of the Harvey Air Field in Snohomish.
The pilot, a 78-year old man from the Snohomish area was transported to an area hospital with possible head injuries. His condition was not immediately known.
Witnesses said the plane apparently lost power.
As the plane was headed down it clipped some trees some trees before crashing into the shallow slough where it came to rest but was not completely submerged.
Ares residents went to the aid of the pilot after the crash. No other passengers were on board and there were no injuries to anyone on the ground.
