(EVERETT, WA.) -- Are you interested in discovering for the first time or learning more about the pioneers of rock here in the northwest?

If so then you’ll want to take in an interesting afternoon of rock history and live music at the Everett Public Library Saturday Sept 15th.

Everett based rock band Oliver Elf Army and local music historian Ron Averill (also a member of the world famous, Snohomish based Lowdown Ramblers jug band) will take you though the past, present, and future of Northwest rock.

The gig starts at 2:00 pm at the library, located at 2702 Hoyt Avenue in Everett.

In the 1990s, Seattle took the music world by storm with a new twist on rock called grunge. The next thing you knew, every garage band in the world was claiming to be from Seattle (or moved here so they could legitimately say they were from the Jet City) and looking to snare a record deal.

But a lot of folks who are new to the northwest have never heard of the rock pioneers that staked out turf here in the turbulent 1960’s and rocked everybody’s world.

Bands like The Ventures, The Sonics, The Wailers, The Galaxies, Don & the Good Times and more.

Averill – also the voice behind the Everett Public Library’s local music podcast series, Mr. Neutron’s Record Closet - will introduce you to the Everett Public Library’s local CD collection and to some of the many bands that have rocked the northwest over the years.

Prepare yourself for music history, clips of fabulous songs and a live performance by Everett’s own Oliver Elf Army.

Gonna be a gas and a groove dude. Be there or be heavily obtuse.
