The crash occurred just after 8:00 am on Highway 2, about two miles west of Monroe at the junction of Fryelands Boulevard and Roosevelt Road.
The WSP report says a blue 1995 Peterbuilt septic truck was headed eastbound on the highway at that location and a gray 1985 GMC C3500 truck that was hauling a cargo trailer was headed westbound when the septic trunk “attempted to slow for traffic, crossed the center line” and crashed head-on into the GMC truck, according to the state patrol report.
Killed in the crash was the driver of the GMC truck, 55-year old Michael P. Higgins of Startup, WA, a small unincorporated community situated between Sultan and Gold Bar in east Snohomish County.
Injured and taken to Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland was the driver of the septic truck, identified as 27-year old Jesse C. Gillen of Everett, WA.
The patrol report lists the cause of the crash as “crossing the center line” with “charges” under investigation.
In Shoreline, WA one woman killed, two others injured in bad wreck on Hwy 99
In yet another fatal accident Thursday morning, King County officials say a taxi cab passenger was killed and two other people were badly injured in a four-car pileup on Highway 99 in Shoreline.
This crash happened just after 7:00 am near North 155th on the heavily traveled highway.
The King County Sheriff’s office says one vehicle was heading northbound on the roadway when, for reasons not known, it crossed over the median and went into the southbound lanes and smashed head-on into another vehicle.
The collision impact sent that vehicle careening into two other vehicles. All lanes of Highway 99 were closed at the crash scene.
The person who died was identified only as a woman in her 60’s. The cab driver and the driver of another vehicle were badly injured and were rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
