November 23, 2017

Main Street Cafe in Monroe
Chronicle staff

(MONROE, WA.) -- If you don't want to cook a big dinner Thanksgiving Day, here's a good alternative.

Come to the Main Street Cafe, located at 107 West Main Street in Monroe from Noon to 7 pm Thursday for a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. The Cafe will accept donations to "Take the Next Step" in lieu of payment for your meal.

And if you're a person or family in need at the moment, just come and enjoy the meal. No one will present a bill for payment afterward.

Take the Next Step, located at 202 South Sams Street in Monroe is a grass roots, faith based non-profit that offers friendship, help and hope to their Monroe area neighbors in need.

The group opened its Community Resource Drop-In Center in 2005 and among the many services it features are Tuesday evening community dinner, the Monroe Cold Weather Shelter and a Kidz Club after school program.

General hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the Lids Club after school program for elementary students meets Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. The phone number is 360) 794-1022
