October 20, 2017

Monroe Police Tip-A-Cop fundraiser for Special Olympics is Sat. Oct. 21st
Chronicle staff
This report first appeared Oct. 19, 2017 in the Breaking News column

(MONROE, WA.) -- This is the time of year when numerous Tip-A-Cop fundraiser events are held by police departments all across the state.

Here in the Sky Valley, where all the women are strong and pump iron, all the men are movie star pretty and all the kids so far above average they start to levitate by the age of two, members of the Monroe Police Department will participate this Saturday October 21st at the Red Robin 2017 “Tip a Cop” event that benefits the Washington Special Olympics program.

Monroe Police Officers will be meeting and greeting you and yours during this annual event that will be held, as last year and the year before, at Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, located at 14797 N Kelsey St. from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Hey, remember the line that Samuel L. Jackson spoke in the movie Pulp Fiction after he took a bite of that guy's burger ("My, that's one tasty burger!") right before he drilled the guy full of holes? That was a great scene. There has never been a burger scene like that in any movie before or after.

At any rate, donations will be accepted during this event with 100% of all monies collected remaining in Snohomish County benefiting Special Olympians here.

So, we want all our Chronicle fans (and there's a hump-load of you folks out there; we know because you write us all the time, sometimes some really weird stuff) to show up and bring some serious money to spread around.

Don't be cheap about it. This is the time to let that long green flow bro. Ya know?

Those wishing to make a donation, but unable to attend can still donate by sending a check to Washington Special Olympics c/o the Monroe Police Department, 818 West Main, Monroe, WA 98272.

Tip-A-Cop events near you

There are, in fact, Tip-A-Cop events at each one of the 40 Red Robin Restaurants in the state in support of Special Olympics Washington.

Here's a list of the cities where the other Red Robin locations are:

Alderwood, Auburn Outlet Collection, Battleground, Bellevue Square, Bellingham, Bonney Lake, Bothell and Covington.

Also Des Moines, Everett, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kennewick, Kent, Lacey, Lakewood Town Center, Northgate, Olympia, Pier 55 and Puyallup.

There's also Overlake, Redmond Town Center, Renton, Silverdale, Skagit Valley, Smokey Point, South Puyallup, Southcenter Mall (Tukwila), Spokane Valley Mall, Spokane (downtown), Spokane (Newport Hwy.), Tacoma, Wenatchee, and Woodinville.
