Luminous art exhibit coming to Skykomish
January 22, 2017
(SKYKOMISH, WA.) -- Next month the folks who brought the interesting large-scale, light-infused Electric Sky art show to the Skykomish Ball Park are holding a one month art exhibition and collaboration space in the Maloney General Store building in Skykomish on Railroad Avenue.

The event is called "The Luminous Garden: Experiments in Self-Illuminated Art."
Some two thirds of the space will be devoted to the art exhibit and one third will be devoted toward "ongoing collaboration activities that continue to populate the garden with new pieces in the form of a mini studio including a large project table, tools and supplies," according to an announcement by Shelly Farnham, Creative Director/Producer of the event.
The Feb. Skykomish exhibit at Maloney's is described as a show that is an evolving, large-scale "collaborative installation that originally emerged from Electric Sky 2016, an art and tech weekend artists’ retreat and hackathon."
This second Luminous Garden event coming in Feb. is an evolved entity from Electric Sky, which is a traveling art show produced by Recreational Light and Magic with support of Third Place Technologies, 4Culture and the Town of Skykomish.
Electric Sky has already been seen and enjoyed by many people at places like Lusio in Volunteer Park in Seattle, Arts-a-Glow in Burien and as an indoor show at the Vermillion Art Gallery and Bar.
The Feb. dates of the event are:
Feb 11-Feb 26, Fri, Sat, and Sun, 12pm-8pm, open creative space and exhibition
Saturday Feb 11, 5pm-10pm, opening night party
Call for Participation: Deadline is Jan 25th:
Local artists and "creative technologists" are invited to participate in the show and/or use the collaboration space. If you are an artist who has one to three pieces that might either align with the Luminous Garden: Self-illuminated Art theme or represent Skykomish in an interesting way, you are asked to consider submitting them for the show.
If you sell a piece that is displayed at the event, 35% will go to the Town of Skykomish (which owns Maloney General Store) and to defray operating costs.
If you're interested in participating, email Shelly Farnham (email@example.com) by Jan 25th with:
1 Your name and a brief bio
2 A link to an online portfolio if you have one
3 The name of each piece as well as dimensions and a photo of each piece
Organizers will ley you know by January 27th if there is space for you. Setup for the show will be the week of Feb 6-11.
Also let organizers know if you are interested in using the collaboration space and they will add your email to their announcements list for hours, workshops, artist-in-residence opportunities, etc.
